Whatever I Feel Like

Here is the music video where I played Catwoman.  I am in the Catwoman verse and have a fight sequence in the Bane verse as well.  The song is Gotham’s Finest by the Stubby Shillelaghs

How do you even go about making those awesome stitched (if that's even correct terminology) creations? Your talent is awesome. On a related note, would you recommend it as a hobby?

Most of these are crochet, and the Jayne hat is knit.  I taught myself to crochet off a very basic book that taught the base stitches.  It’s actually a fairly easy thing to learn how to do.  The internet is a great resource, too.  There are so many diagrams and YouTube videos available.  If I am ever unsure how to do a stitch, I google it and watch a video or look at diagrams.

I think the hardest part of crochet/knitting is just being consistent with your tension so that your stitches are uniform.  So your first project should just be a scarf just to practice with this.  You don’t even need a lot of practice before you have this down. A scarf project should prepare you nicely to move on to these stuffed animals (amigurumi).

For amigurumi, you basic things you will need to know are the magic circle (google it), single crochet stitches, how to do a single crochet decrease.  And then generally, you need to know how to read a pattern, which just means learning the abbreviations (sc = single crochet, ch = chain stitch).  Most patterns list what the abbreviations mean. If you need to do any stitches that are not basic, they usually list instructions on the pattern on how to do these, and if not, you can google them.

Ravelry.com is an excellent resource for finding patterns, both free, and some for a small charge.

I definitely recommend it as a hobby.  It’s nice to have something to do with your hands if you are every watching TV.  I prefer the act of crochet to knitting, personally, but tend to love knit products more.  Although, if you like amigurumi, crochet is excellent for these.

You’d be amazed at how easy it is to learn how to crochet.  Give it a try!
